Since we had the day off and in celebration of Memorial Day, I thought it would be fun to take Max to the park. I over estimated how much fun he would have. We pushed him on the swing and I went down the slides with him on my lap. He didn't not like it, but didn't really seem to like it either. We'll try again when he's a little bit older :)
Welcome to the story of our first baby!

Backyard Swimming
The DeNicola's brought over the kiddie pool this afternoon. The guys grilled up some fantastic chicken, steak kabobs and sausages while Lisa & I played with the kids in the pool. Madison is going to be a trip when she gets older. She kept laying on her back with her hand about her head like she was sunbathing. Afterwards she passed out with her shirt up!

Max is 6 months! Wait...What?!?!
How is it possible that 6 months has gone by since we had this little guy? I just can't believe how wonderful the time with him has been. Each week he learns to do something new or something changes about him. Here's what he's been up to this month:
*eating 8 oz bottles at 7:30, 11:30, 3:30 and 8:30.
*eating a jar of baby food at 5:30
*wearing size 3 diapers
*wearing 12 month pj's and onesies, but only 3-6 months shorts
*attempting to find his voice
*rolling all over the place
*scooting - we're thinking he'll be crawling any day now
*grabbing things that you hold out for him
*clapping
*sits up with the Boppy around him
*get lots of love from Mommy & Daddy everday!
I tried to take pictures with his 6 month sticker on his shirt, but he would not cooperate. So instead we have a bunch of pics from the last few weeks.
One of the pics is from our 6 month doctor's checkup. We waited soooo long to see the doctor that Max fell asleep on the exam table. He weighed in at 15.11 pounds (25th percentile) and was 26.5 inches long (75th percentile).

Max can clap!
While at work today, I received an email from Mike saying that Max was clapping his hands all by himself. My initial reaction was sadness. I missed a "first" and wasn't happy about it. I had been practicing clapping with him, but when he finally did it on his own I wasn't there to see it. I got myself together and pushed through the rest of the day. I was sure to leave right at 4 so I could rush home to see Max. He greeted me with a smile when I arrived home and then Mike got him to clap for me. It was the perfect end to a hectic day.

Dinner in the Highchair
Max has been eating a jar of baby food per day for a few weeks now. I've been feeding him in the bouncy seat, but today I realized that this has made the bouncy seat pretty disgusting. It was covered in spit-out peas, pears, prunes, etc. It was time for the highchair to make its grand entrance from the box to our home. I've been putting it off because I didn't really want another baby item in our family room, but the time had come. I was able to put it together for tonight's dinner which consistent of pears...and a little banana's because was extra hungry and one jar just wasn't enough.
Although we now have another baby item in the house, I'm glad I put it together. It made feeding him a lot easier.

A visit from my oldest friend
Jen & I have been friends since she was 4 and I was 5. You don't find many friendships that have lasted that long. It was so much fun to have her and Alex visit. The first day they arrived we introduced the kiddo's and pets. Mook & Alex had an instant friendship. Later that night we headed out to dinner at LaBamba with a friend from college, Shelle, and her son Dominic. I forgot to get pictures of that.
The next day we headed over to Shelle's hotel for some fun in the sun. I was worried about Max getting burnt, but after SPF 55 shorts and shirt, a hat, and sunscreen we attempted the water. At first, he wasn't the biggest fan, but eventually he seemed to enjoy it. It must have been exhausting because he took quite the snooze. Afterwards, we cleaned up, had lunch, and took a group photo. It was at that moment I realized I am way to pale for a Floridian. I really must get out more.
On the last day, we went to the park, the mall, and had a BBQ at our house. Weeks leading up to their visit I had been scouting out the area for a good park to take Alex too. When we arrived it was closed for maintenance. Not cool. I had a back up park that we went too, but it didn't have swings. What type of park doesn't have swings?!?! We still had fun though. Alex ran around and Max passed out. I don't think he can handle the heat.
We had a great time and can't wait to see them again soon.

Mother's Day
Today was my first mother's day and it was fantastic. We woke up early and headed to the dog park. It's getting pretty hot these days, but Mook needs the exercise. Afterwards we headed home and got showered and ready.
We headed out to brunch with Grandma & Grandpa Killi. I was sure to wear my necklace that I got from Max and Mike.
Afterwards Mike decided to get a haircut. He hasn't got his hair cut since before Max was born!
Mike looks so different now. I'm wondering how Max will react. I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out because Max has been sleeping since we got home from brunch and now Mike is napping as well.

Eating
Max has mastered opening his mouth as the spoon gets near, but I'm pretty sure he's not getting use to the peas.
