A rough couple of days...

Max has been sick for what seems like forever.  He has had a 103 fever for 3 days.  The doctor was thinking that he had a viral infection.  Besides being a little cranky he has seemed OK.  Until today.  He woke up this morning and all he wanted to do was lay on the pillow and watch TV.  He was interested in eating, walking, talking, etc.  We took him back to the doctor.  He gave us an antibiotic to help try to speed along the process.  His thought was that Max might have roseola but there is no way to tell until after the fever breaks.  As soon as he broke the fever, he broke out into a full body rash.  Mystery solved - it was roseola.

Allergy Test :(

Our poor little guy has had this horrible rash on his face for about 2 months. We've been to the doctor several times, applied creams, eliminated fruit, bought all new bottles, withheld the paci until bedtime, went back to our old detergent. You name it we tried it, but still the rash remained. Some days it would seem like it was getting better. Then all off a sudden it would come back full force. This weekend I had had enough. I called the pediatrician and obtained a referral to see an allergist as our pediatrician was pretty confident it was an allergy to something. We headed to an allergist this afternoon and they gave us a sheet of the most common allergies that kids have. We went through the list and highlighted all the things that Max has been exposed to. They had to test for allergies to dogs and I was praying that wouldn't be the issue as Mook is part of the family. After many skin pricks we had a partial answer. There are several things that Max reacted to, but that doesn't necessarily mean all or one of them is the culprit causing the rash.

For the next 4 weeks we have a Do Not Eat list which contains:
1. Apples
2. Strawberries
3. Walnuts
4. Mushrooms
5. Onions
6. Shrimp
7. Scallops

Hopefully after removing these items the rash will go away. We'll revisit the doctor in 4 weeks to check our progress. If it hasn't gone away more testing is in our future. If it has gone away then we can slowly introduce the foods back 1 by 1 to see which one is causing the rash.

We found this awesome park down the street from our house.  It was so cool we went there twice this weekend.  Max now climbs the steps and slides down the slide on his own.

Beach - Round 2

We've been doing a lot of skyping with Grandma Sandy lately and I could tell that her and Max missed each other.  So what better mother's day present than a trip down to visit us.

We headed down to the beach on Friday.  If I'm being honest here, I'm not sure who had more fun Max or Grandma Sandy.

Max's fear of the water was still present, but he did play in the sand a little.

Unfortunately I trip was cut short due to the giant rain cloud you see in the pictures.

What a little cutie

HELLO?!?!?!?!?!

This is just the cutest thing.  Max constantly picks up the phone, attempts to put it to his ear, says his version of "hello" and then carries on a conversation with himself.  I can't stop laughing every time he does it.

Naked Baby

It's post dinner time.  The family is relaxing and enjoying some TV.  The child is quiet and hiding on the side of the couch.  What could he be doing?  He appears naked!  He was quiet because he was concentrating on taking off his pants and his diaper.

First trip to the beach

We woke up this morning and decided - we live in Florida...by the ocean...why haven't we taken our kid to the beach yet??? Probably because we are blindingly white, but whatever we decided to go anyway :) It look Max awhile, but he eventually warmed up to the sand. We couldn't convince him that the water was ok, but maybe we'll be able to do that next time.

New eating chairs

Along with new eating habits has come new eating chairs. For some reason, the highchair at regular height became an evil thing that caused my wonderful child to scream throughout dinner. So I got him a big boy chair and he loves it. Now his "high"chair has been lowered to a "low" chair and he loves just hanging out it in having a snack. All is good in the world of eating.

Juicing

For the last month, we've taken a new approach on our eating habits. We've removed all meat and most processed items from our diet. We've incorporated juicing fruits and vegetables. Max not only loves the actual juice. He loves the chore of juicing as well.
