A goal finally accomplished

For months Max has been trying to catch the kitty. Today he did. He now has the speed to get the cat and boy is he having fun. After the cat escaped from the tail grab he had had enough and hid behind the couch. Max wasn't done with him yet and was trying to get behind the couch to get him.

This is not a game....

Merry Christmas

We woke up early to open presents. After we opened our gifts we skyped with Grandma Sandy while Max opened his presents from her. He got lots of fun stuff. Next step was breakfast. Mike made eggs, bacon, and toast. We cleaned up a bit, hung out, and then Max had a bath and went down for a nap. Grandma and Grandpa Killi came over in the afternoon, Max explored the new swing set and then we skyped with Jenn, Ben, Owen and Vivi. Later we even skyped with some of the Killi's! After a great dinner and some pie we were all ready for bed.

It was a great day.

Here's what Max has been up to:
- still hates getting his diaper changed...it's a 2 man job
- gives hugs all the time and kisses sometimes
- WALKS!
- no longer drinks formula
- wears some 12 month clothes but mostly 18 months
- talks all the time, but the only things I can understand is mama, dada, "kie" (mookie)and sometimes I think I hear him say ok, no, and Susie
- refuses to give up on trying to catch the cat and dog
- has 6.5 teeth
- no longer eats baby food - oatmeal for breakfast, PB&J and fruit for lunch, and then whatever we are having for dinner.
- still wears size 4 diapers
- is beginning to master the sippy cup
- his favorite toy is the animal train
- dances & claps whenever music comes on
- is all over the place and explores everything
- doesn't like being strapped in the car seat, stroller, grocery cart, etc. He wants his freedom!

Adult Cup

We are making progress on drinking out of a sippy cup, but for some reason Max would prefer to just drink out of a regular adult cup. Today he just went over to the couch, picked up a cup, and started drinking.

We've got a stander!

Max is on the verge of walking. He just lacks the confidence to take that first step. This week we've made it our mission to help him. We've only been at it for 2 nights and he can now stand on his own for an extended amount of time! We are making progress already.

Pizza Night

Dinner out is a bit challenging these days so tonight Adam & Jenn picked up dinner and brought it over. We chatted over great pizza and wine followed by brownies and ice cream. Max even tried on Adam's glasses.

Fun Day

We returned to Latte Fun for the second time. There was a bit of mixed emotion today. The first hour was full of fun - playing and interacting with the other kids. The second hour was a combination of some fun and some not fun. Max is teething hardcore so while he tries to have fun sometimes he just can't get pass the pain. It was getting close to nap time and I could see he wanted to leave, but we stayed just a little be longer so that when we got home he'd take a long nap. It worked. He slept for 4 hours! We are hoping that on our next trip to latte fun Max is walking :)

early christmas present

Since we've had Max the amount of pictures and video we take has increased immensely. We've been considering purchasing a nice camera but they aren't cheap. Luckily our parents agreed to contribute to the cause and to do it early so that we could take awesome pictures during the holiday season. We absolutely LOVE the camera. Thanks to Grandma Sandy, Grandma Linda, and Poppy!

New Toys

In order to continue the birthday celebration and prepare for Thanksgiving I've taken the week off which has given Max and I plenty of time to play with his new toys. I must be wearing him out because he's on his 2nd two hour nap of the day!

1 year check up

Max had his 1 year check up. Boy is he growing. He's up to 20 lbs and 14 oz. They measured him at 30 in long, but my at home measurements show that he's taller than that. He was in the midst of a meltdown when the doctor was trying to measure him which made it a bit of a challenge. Here's what he's been up to lately:

- eating 1/2 a PB&J sandwich and fruit for lunch
- attempting to use a sippy cup
- drinks half milk / formula bottles in attempt to transition off of formula
- aggressively hates getting his diaper changed or get his clothes changed
- walks when holding on to your hands or furniture, but isn't brave enough to try without holding on yet
- "plays" with Mook and the kitty every chance he gets
- calls Mike "dad" instead of "dada"
- shakes his head no whenever you say the word yes
- loves opening and closing drawers and cabinets
- wearing 12 - 18 month clothes
- has 6 teeth but the doctor said that his molars are getting ready to come in

Happy 1st Birthday Max

This has been the most memorable year of our lives so far. We have experienced the most life changing event...becoming parents. Each day I look at Max and I cannot believe that we created him. He is half me, half Mike. He is a mini Mike when it comes to his appearance, but he's all me when it comes to his demeanor and facial expressions. I cannot believe that in just 1 year he's gone from this tiny little, non moving, non talking baby to this super tall, mobile, jabber jaw little man. I can't wait to see what the next year brings!

To celebrate Max's first birthday we invited over our family and friends for a celebration. Grandma Sandy & I decorated the house while Mike prepared the food. The menu consisted of BBQ'd hamburgers and hot dogs, pasta salad, potato salad, and some fruits and veggies. We had a blast and were so thankful for all of those that came to celebrate with us.
