Learning to Play

Max is learning to play. He's getting better at holding things in his hands. He's still working on learning how to control his arms but it's pretty cute to watch him try. The monkey he is playing with squeaks which really gets Mook excited. If he gets a chance I'm pretty sure he's going to destroy that poor little monkey.

Happy Birthday Daddy

Today was Mike's birthday. We started the day with coffee and opening presents. Mike did a little work while Max and I bundled up and heading to the grocery store to prepare for dinner. After a long day of preparation we enjoyed a great meal along with some dessert. Max was a happy baby all day. He must have known it was a special day.

Max has been having issues going to the bathroom regularly. I read online to rub his tummy in a clockwise motion with some pressure to help him go. Sure enough it worked. About an hour later he was able to poo. However, now it's been 2 days and he hasn't gone again and the tummy rubbing isn't working. Today he was pushing and pushing. His face was turning all red. I was sure he had gone. I checked his diaper and there a rock hard, pee size piece of poo in there. Clearly he is having issues :( I called the doctor and they recommending giving him dark kyro syrup to help soften it up. I'm waiting for Mike to get done working so I can run to the store to pick it up. I would go get it now, but Max won't stop crying. It makes me so sad to see the little man unhappy.

Going for a Walk

It was beautiful today so Max and I went for a walk. I figured he didn't mind what he wearing so I just left him in his pj's.

7 week update

I can't believe how big Max is getting. He's starting to get little chubby legs. His hair is growing in on top and it looks like it might be blonde. Mook just won't leave his side. His favorite position is to be sitting up so that he can look around.

 

Smile :)

Max has been smiling for the last couple of weeks but I was having a tough time getting a picture. Every morning I say "good morning" to him in this cheesy baby voice and it makes him smile. Now I can say it any time of the day and get him to smile. It's still tough to snap a picture but I managed to kind of get one today.

Go Hokies!

Virginia Tech is playing in the Orange Bowl tonight. Max's dad and grandpa are going to the game while Max & his mom cheer the Hokies on from home. Before leaving for the game we caught some father-son time on video.

Whenever he's not swaddled he sleeps with his hands up. I just think it's so funny.

 

Best Christmas Ever

Christmas 2010 was the best we've ever had. Having Max as a part of our family this year was the greatest gift of all. We started our Christmas celebration on Christmas Eve morning. Before we had the baby we use to take Mook to the dog park every Saturday and Sunday. We haven't gone since the baby was born because at first I was too sore from the c-section. Once I recovered from that a cold front came in and has been here ever since. When we woke up on Christmas Eve it was in the 70's so we decided to pack up the baby, load Mook in the car, and attempt our first trip to the dog park. Mook has been so good with the baby we had to show him how much we appreciate it. He barely leaves Max's side. The dog park was a success. Once it warms up again I'm sure we'll get back into our weekend habit.

 

We decided to try out a new church on Christmas Eve. We arrived at the Church by the Glades around 5:30 for their 3D Christmas special. The band was amazing. We sang several Christmas songs and then moved into the sermon. The pastor talked about gifts and all I could think about was the wonder gift we had been blessed with...Max :) Somehow Max slept through all the loud music and most of the sermon. He didn't wake up until the very end when it was really quiet and then started to cry. It was pretty funny.

 

We woke up really early Christmas morning. Mike made breakfast and then we exchanged gifts. Max enjoyed some time under his rain forest safari and then took a little snooze. Later Grandma & Grandpa Killi came over and we skyped with Jenn, Ben, Owen, and Vivi. We had a fabulous Christmas meal and then took some much needed naps.
